Bulkley Preserve

Highlights

  • 38 acres
  • Conserved 1979
    • Preserved for Habitat
    • No Maintained Trails

Located on opposite sides of Finch Road, these two preserves span roughly 30 acres and 7 acres. Both were generously donated in 1979 by the heirs of the Bulkley family.

The preserves protect a vital stretch of the west branch of the Mopus River and are made up primarily of wetlands — an essential habitat for a wide variety of plants, wildlife, and migratory birds.

We are dedicated to preserving the character and natural beauty of the town of North Salem, NY and the area around it by establishing land areas free from exploitation, development, and deterioration and by maintaining the environmental and ecological integrity of the area.
