Gaymark Preserve
Trail Description
Gaymark Preserve features two scenic trails, both accessible from Dingle Ridge Road. The first is a 0.8-mile footpath with two loops that gently climbs uphill to open, lush meadows bordered by woodland, offering beautiful views and a peaceful setting. Several mature old trees line the southern edge of the forest in the western loop. The second is a shorter, 0.5-mile out-and-back trail that winds through quiet forest and overlooks rich wetland habitat, perfect for a tranquil nature walk.
Acquired by NSOLF in 2005, the Gaymark Preserve spans 58 acres of diverse and scenic landscape. This important conservation effort was made possible through generous donations to the Foundation, the support of our local community, and the generosity of the Scheuer Family, the property's former owners.
A public trail system, accessible from Dingle Ridge Road (directly across from the Mills Parcel), invites visitors to explore and enjoy the natural beauty of the land. Along the trails, you’ll encounter four distinct habitats: Woodland, wetland, swamp and open field
All are accessible from the trail, offering a rich and varied experience for nature lovers, hikers, and conservation enthusiasts alike.

We are dedicated to preserving the character and natural beauty of the town of North Salem, NY and the area around it by establishing land areas free from exploitation, development, and deterioration and by maintaining the environmental and ecological integrity of the area.
