Lances-Lippmann Preserve
Trail Description
Lances-Lippmann Preserve features an easy 0.6-mile loop trail that winds along the scenic Titicus River. Surrounded by a lush, shady canopy and accompanied by the peaceful sounds of babbling water, this serene trail is perfect for a quiet nature walk. A small parking lot is available at the intersection of Grant Road and Titicus Road, making access convenient for a short and refreshing visit.
The Lances-Lippmann Preserve brings together two generous gifts to NSOLF: a 2-acre donation from Audrey and Leo Lances in 1974 and a 6-acre donation from Lois and Ken Lippmann in 2016. Located at the intersection of Titicus Road and Grant Road, this wooded preserve is defined by the flowing Titicus River. The land serves as a vital floodplain forest, naturally filtering and purifying floodwaters before they reach water bodies such as the Titicus Reservoir. Each spring, the North Salem Fish and Game Association stocks the river with trout, adding to the area’s natural abundance.
We are dedicated to preserving the character and natural beauty of the town of North Salem, NY and the area around it by establishing land areas free from exploitation, development, and deterioration and by maintaining the environmental and ecological integrity of the area.
